What Does It Mean To Be A Leader?
The Ken Blanchard Companies’ definition for Leadership is to have “the capacity to influence others by unleashing the potential and power of people and organizations for the greater good.”
The key phrase in our new definition is “the greater good”-what is best for all involved. We think leadership is a high calling. Leadership should not be purely for personal gain or goal accomplishment; it should have a much higher purpose than that.
Leading At A Higher Level.
Most of the time a leader should be a Mentor and a Cheer-Leader looking to bring out the best in others and guild them towards accomplishments.
When you are Leading at a Higher Level you are never looking for personal gain, true Leaders always seeks to improve others around them. Leadership is a process and through this process One must act with respect, care and fairness for the well-being of all involved.
Most of the time it’s best to have followers that have the same goals and interest as yourself, so within the process of accomplishment both can help each other in terms of personal and organizational growth.
Anytime you have chosen to meet a Goal or chase a Dream, you are a Leader and with that you have the longterm responsibility of all the people that surrounds you. Just remember always to lead with value first, give more than you can take and I can guarantee that the forces of nature will reward you ten in return. Good Luck
